Our Christian Vision
Our School Ethos
The ethos of St. Saviour’s C of E Primary School is to work together to extend Jesus’ model of the Kingdom of God on earth by living out a lifestyle through the Christian values and according to his teaching. We are inspired by his message, life and example through which God’s unconditional love for all people is expressed.
Whilst we serve a richly diverse community of children from a wide range of faiths and backgrounds, we seek to preserve and develop the religious character of our school in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Churches at parish and diocesan level. This enables our children to be reflective and morally ground by associating their daily actions to our school values.
Our School Vision
Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way that you think.’
Romans 12:2
Our vision is for St Saviour’s to be a place of transforming growth, where Christian education inspires children and adults for achievement in the whole of life. Our vision reflects spirituality, beliefs about ourselves and each other and beliefs about the world.
Spirituality
Our vision will ensure that we provide opportunities for pupils to develop independence and confidence within their beliefs whilst providing space for enquiry and reflection into their understanding of God and the principles by which they live. Opportunities for prayer, quiet reflection and open discussion and dialogue are integral to our approach. We want to ensure pupils have a lifelong desire for spiritual development.
Beliefs about ourselves and each other
We believe that every adult and child is precious no matter what race, sex, religion, social background, physical or intellectual ability. We recognise the uniqueness of each child and ensure that they develop the skills they need to flourish academically, physically, mentally and spiritually regardless of their background or individual needs.
Beliefs about the world
The ethos of St. Saviour’s School is to work together to extend Jesus’ model of the Kingdom of God on Earth by living out a lifestyle through the Christian values and according to his teaching. We are inspired by his message, life and example through which God’s unconditional love for all people is expressed. Children are challenged to transform their thinking, enquire, ask questions and reflect upon the world in which they live in order to develop their understanding. Through understanding comes responsibility and we ensure children learn through our curriculum and times of worship their responsibility to the environment, helping others and living well with one another.
Living out our Vision
We strive to show Love, Truth, Respect, Forgiveness, Tenacity, Serenity and have Faith. We show this in our behaviour, our work and our relationships. Our curriculum encourages enquiry as children discover for themselves and encourages self-evaluation and reflection.. We encourage the whole development of each and every child as a person made in God’s image; unique, special and deeply loved by their maker. As a church school, we have always sought to express our Christian ethos in practical ways that make a difference and our Young Transformers programme offers children opportunities to transform themselves and others by taking action.
Our School Values
We believe that every adult and child is precious no matter what race, sex, religion, social background, physical or intellectual ability.
Our school values: Faith, Forgiveness, Respect, Truth, Love, Tenacity and Serenity underpin our school vision and the ethos of the school. They include every interaction in school life and are lived by the whole school community. We hope that our children grow to become ethical individuals directed by our Christian values which results in them being moral-led ambitious learners.
