Federation of Schools

St Saviour’s and St Mary’s were hard federated in September 2011 meaning our two schools have one Governing Body. Our Governing Body provides support and challenge on strategic matters and holds both schools to account for the quality of education and school improvement generally. Likewise, the leadership team for both schools has the responsibility to deliver a high-quality broad and balanced curriculum, which meets the individual needs of pupils in both schools.

Hard Federation is not an amalgamation or a takeover but rather enables a coordinated approach across both schools, derived from combining key structures and practises, from which certain benefits can be realised. Each of the schools still retain their distinct legal identities with regard to such matters as admissions, performance tables and Ofsted inspections.
